Courses

Courses for Teachers

DAI runs training courses aimed at Teachers and other educators. Places on these courses are limited so early application is advisable. We run these courses several times each year, in different locations, in response to demand. A course certificate will be awarded upon successful completion of the course. You may then apply for inclusion on the DAI tutor lists which are available to members of the DAI.

Courses for Parents

We run a one-day course for parents (also sometimes delivered over 2/3 evenings) which is designed to equip parents with the key information they need to better understand their child’s dyslexia, how to support their child at home and how to effectively advocate with the school. We also run some webinars and shorter information talks on dyslexia and dyscalculia.

Courses for Adults

DAI runs regular seminars/webinars for adults with dyslexia. We have also piloted a new Adult Dyslexia Peer Network, and can also offer talks in colleges for groups of adult learners with dyslexia. We also have some pre-recorded talks/webinars on adult dyslexia on our YouTube channel.

Dyslexia and Me

Dyslexia and Me is a unique workshop we offer for young people with dyslexia to help build their understanding, self-esteem and resilience, and to help them talk about their dyslexia.

Course for Adult/FET/HE tutors

DAI offers a range of courses for staff in the FET and HE sectors to enable them to better understand dyslexia, its impact on learners and training on practical strategies to better meet the needs of adult learners with dyslexia. We also offer a unique assessment of needs training course to upskill FET staff to identify learners with dyslexic profiles.

Bespoke Training

DAI responds to requests for bespoke training from community organisations, parents’ associations, libraries, workplace groups, schools etc.  Training can be tailored to the specific needs and interests of each group depending on the location and the time available.
