Submission on the draft Primary Curriculum Framework

Submission on the draft Primary Curriculum Framework

The Dyslexia Association of Ireland has made a submission to the National Council for Curriculum and Assessment (NCCA) on the draft new Primary Curriculum Framework. As a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, the consultation period was extended and now closes today February 28th, 2022. The NCCA will then begin a review of submissions and work on next steps towards finalising the new Primary Curriculum and planning its implementation.

In our submission, we sought to highlight issues faced by learners with dyslexia and how their needs can best be met in our primary education system, informed by the experiences of our members and evidence-based teaching. The current primary curriculum framework is more than two decades old, so a review is very welcome. We hope the new curriculum will be more inclusive, and better meet the needs of learners with dyslexia and other learning differences.
